Red Carpet Golf Course opened for play in the Summer of 1920. It's opening symbolized the arrival of modern-era golf in the Waterloo area. Tom Bendelow, a well respected course designer in his era, was hired to lay out this fine facility. Bendelow's work speaks for itself, as he also has designed such renowned courses as Medinah Country Club, Olympia Fields, and Hyperion Field Club in Johnston, Iowa.
The tradition of fine golf at Red Carpet has been enriched throughout the years with a number of well known players. Walter Hagen, winner of 11 professional Majors, made his second appearance at the course in 1933. In that same year, reigning U.S. and British Open champion Gene Sarazen made a stop to play the course. The Course has been privately owned since 1976.
We hope you enjoy your visit to this historic facility. Conveniently located one mile east of US Highway 63 on Newell Street in Waterloo, Iowa.

HOLE #1
A GREAT view of the first hole awaits on your opening tee. An elevated tee provides a view of a wide fairway, but a drive to the right can result in a big number on the card. Stay left to give yourself the best look at the large green. An ideal approach will stay below the hole for the best opportunity to make a putt.
HOLE #2
Club selection is key on this long par 3. An elevated tee and typically windy conditions make it difficult to pull the right club. Be sure to avoid the front and left side of the green, as putts from there are into a hill and difficult to make.
HOLE #3
The third hole is a tight, slightly uphill par 4. Trees on both the left and right sides place a premium on a straight drive. Iron or Hybrid may be the best selection from the tee box.
Hole #3 Green
HOLE #4
A good chance at birdie awaits on the first par 5 of the course. Hit the wide and inviting fairway, and the green should be reachable with your second shot. Aim to stay below the hole on the green to give yourself the best putt.
HOLE #5
Stay away from the right side on this slightly uphill par 4. The hole favors the high ball hitter as a slightly elevated green makes it more difficult to roll the ball on to the surface. Once on the green, several valleys make it one of the most difficult putting surfaces on the course.
